ArtLab – Sustainable Textile Art with Aka Sorbie
ArtLab workshops respond to HOTA Gallery exhibitions, providing kids with the opportunity to explore ideas, materials and techniques and create unique artworks of their own.
Join us during NAIDOC week for a special ArtLab led by artist
Lisa Sorbie Martin.
Known to family as Aka (grandmother), Lisa generously shares her art and Torres Strait culture in our Children’s Gallery exhibition Aka Sorbie: Saltwater Heart.
In this workshop we will explore how a range of natural materials may be used to create sustainable inks and dyes and applied to fabric. Through experimental mark making we will generate our own organic textile design to take home.
Recommended for ages 6 – 12 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult or carer and cannot be left unsupervised at any time. Thank you for your understanding.
A $4 transaction fee will apply for e ticket delivery purchases (excluding free events + donations). For Hold at Box Office ticket delivery purchases, a $6 fee will apply. Please view full Terms and Conditions prior to purchasing your tickets.
